What are the skills needed to be a good mechatronics engineer?

What are the skills needed to be a good mechatronics engineer?

Well, I am a Mechatronics Engineer. To be specific Mechatronics involves an amalgamation of Mechanical, Electrical along with Computer Programming skills.

For example, lets take a robot. I can give you this example since I am working on it. Lets start with the Electricals, the Robot has motors and it deals with the voltage and current stuffs. An Electrical engineer would know how this motor would work and what parameters are involved and whats the end result.

Then comes the actuator/robot. This is where Mechanical Engineer ticks in. What does this motor does. Will there be a direct transmission or there should be some gears included. The end result would be a torque generated which in turns makes the robot works.

All the robot working and attaining its desired positions is all just physics and mathematics.

Then comes the part, where you want to control a robot, so you need to design a controller which does that. A work of a control engineer or some cases even Electrical engineer does.

Then you need a medium where you can program a robot. So you need a computer. Well, so the connection between mechanical and electrical components and the interface with the computer, its all a work of a computer science engineer.

My point is, an ideal Mechatronics engineer is one who knows all of these stuff, or if not, when given chance can adapt to these stuffs and has the capability to design, develop and control any system.
